Regional Development Agency of Koszalin and its partners from Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine carried out a project „Tourism Partners Europe – Development of international tourist destinations in Europe”
The aim was to point out innovative impulses for region al development, strenghtening endogenous tourism potential of border regions and pointing out potentials of coöperation between European tourist destinations. German Baltic Sea coast was a destination analyzed by Koszalin Agency for Regional Development.
The project was carried out since May 2004 and was co-financed by Initiative INTERREG III C.

The scope of the project
The project was located in international tourist destinations such as:
- German-Polish Baltic Sea Coast
- Saxonian-Czech Rudawy (Ore Mountains)
- Saxonian-Polish Łużyce (Lusatia)
- Polish-Slovakian Beskids
- Slovakian-Ukrainian Carpathians
Completed tasks
During the 3 years the project show Basic problems of those tourist destinations, for example :
- Border regions do not have as well-developed infstracture as other European regions have
- High unemployment in agriculture, industry and weak service sector
- Tourism sector offers unique opportunities for region al development
- Joint offers based on European identity achieved through long-term coöperation of partner regions have a positive impact on the importance of the tourism sector in the border regions
- Modern tourism requires a strong regional and interregional coöperation between business institutions and institutions supporting the development of tourism

The program of work
- Establishment of thematic working groups to prepare a common analysis methodology.
- Implementation of evaluation methods to assess the potential of international coöperation of presented tourist destinations.
- Preparation of the perspectives of coöperation (preparing specific proposals for joint projects and products development).
- Implementation of first action.
