Tourism Partners Europe

Regio­nal Deve­lop­ment Agency of Kosza­lin and its part­ners from Ger­many, Czech Repu­blic, Slo­va­kia and Ukra­ine car­ried out a pro­ject „Tourism Part­ners Europe – Deve­lop­ment of inter­na­tio­nal tourist desti­na­tions in Europe”

The aim was to point out inno­va­tive impul­ses for region al deve­lop­ment, stren­gh­te­ning endo­ge­nous tourism poten­tial of bor­der regions and poin­ting out poten­tials of coöpe­ra­tion between Euro­pean tourist desti­na­tions. Ger­man Bal­tic Sea coast was a desti­na­tion ana­ly­zed by Kosza­lin Agency for Regio­nal Development.

The pro­ject was car­ried out since May 2004 and was co-​​financed by Ini­tia­tive INTER­REG III C.

The scope of the project

The pro­ject was loca­ted in inter­na­tio­nal tourist desti­na­tions such as:

  • German-​​Polish Bal­tic Sea Coast
  • Saxonian-​​Czech Rudawy (Ore Mountains)
  • Saxonian-​​Polish Łużyce (Lusatia)
  • Polish-​​Slovakian Beskids
  • Slovakian-​​Ukrainian Carpathians

Completed tasks

During the 3 years the pro­ject show Basic pro­blems of those tourist desti­na­tions, for example :

  • Bor­der regions do not have as well-​​developed infstrac­ture as other Euro­pean regions have
  • High unem­ploy­ment in agri­cul­ture, indu­stry and weak service sector
  • Tourism sec­tor offers uni­que oppor­tu­ni­ties for region al development
  • Joint offers based on Euro­pean iden­tity achie­ved thro­ugh long-​​term coöpe­ra­tion of part­ner regions have a posi­tive impact on the impor­tance of the tourism sec­tor in the bor­der regions
  • Modern tourism requ­ires a strong regio­nal and inter­re­gio­nal coöpe­ra­tion between busi­ness insti­tu­tions and insti­tu­tions sup­por­ting the deve­lop­ment of tourism

Methodology of activities

  • Get­ting infor­ma­tion about mar­kets and their tendencies.
  • Infor­ma­tion and ideas con­nec­ted with inno­va­tive quality mana­ge­ment, deve­lop­ment of com­ple­men­tary offer systems.
  • Impro­ving the imple­men­ta­tion of joint stra­te­gies and impro­ving the pro­cess of the tourism sec­tor management.

The program of work

  • Esta­bli­sh­ment of the­ma­tic wor­king gro­ups to pre­pare a com­mon ana­ly­sis methodology.
  • Imple­men­ta­tion of eva­lu­ation methods to assess the poten­tial of inter­na­tio­nal coöpe­ra­tion of pre­sen­ted tourist destinations.
  • Pre­pa­ra­tion of the per­spec­ti­ves of coöpe­ra­tion (pre­pa­ring spe­ci­fic pro­po­sals for joint pro­jects and pro­ducts development).
  • Imple­men­ta­tion of first action.
